My top three FIFA picks

Inspired by Chuvaness’ post,  here are my top 3 choices is my top choice. Will browse more hotties over the weekend :)

Live in the now

Sydney-based Cindy sent me a link on an interesting article. Here are some interesting tips on how to be happy:

  • Experiences, such as travelling to new places, going to dinner with friends, or taking the kids to a carnival, are more rewarding than material possessions.
  • It is close family ties that truly are the key to happiness
  • Hygge, which is difficult to translate, means something close to coziness, such as staying in and having a cup of tea and a chat with friends. Danes are closer to their family, to their colleagues, to their friends. They meet more often. And they argue that they have…more to do with each other.
  • Be open. Avoid mental time travel that keeps you ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. Attend instead to the beauty, kindnesses, and all manner of gifts within this present moment.

A most productive weekend

-one that didn’t involve any bit of work! Yes, my long weekend was very much relaxing and productive – both at the same time.

Staying away from corporate Makati as much as possible

Friday:
Woke up way too early so I opted to go for a nice swim. Had breakfast with the boyfriend before he went to dreamland. After lunch I met up with one of my best friends whom I haven’t seen for the longest time. Capped the day with dinner at Kitchen, plus dessert at Coffee Bean where another one of my closest friends joined in.

That day, I ended up with 2 new books: Murakami’s When I Talk About Running… and Pratchett’s Making Money – hardbound on sale!

Saturday:
Watched Bullets over Broadway with the boyfriend, then off to Pepper Lunch. Spent most of the day reading Murakami.

Sunday:
Quiapo Day! It was my first time to go to Quiapo – can you believe that? It was hot out there but the trip was worth it. Ended up buying a second-hand TV for the condo. LOL. I also passed by the church which I actually liked despite the overwhelming crowd and yes, the heat. Back in Makati, had a simple dinner at Pizza Hut Bistro. Afterwards, I went grocery shopping for an effort to stock the ref with healthy food (for cooking!) and do away with, or atleast minimize eating fastfood.

Attempting a Coke halt

I’ve been trying – but to no avail. I remember being able to stop for a couple of weeks back in college. It was during the time I learned from no less than the guy I was stalking that he gave up soft drinks some time ago in exchange for a healthy lifestyle. Right after our chit-chat, Coke started to taste like bathroom cleanser to me, and so I stopped. Haha, isn’t that silly?

I couldn’t remember how long I was able to stop drinking Coke. I was doing fine with water and iced tea until one truly tiring day, the heat got to me and all I wanted was that first gulp of Coke right after you open the bottle. It was that easy.

Hello, my name is Quel. I’m a Coke addict.

Brothers

I miss my brothers. I love being in the same room with them just because they make me feel young again. It’s funny how fast they grow up, and how smart they’ve become despite our years apart. Mac is the nicest one among the three of us – I don’t know how he does it! Meanwhile, Ken is everyone’s favorite – especially because his throwbacks are witty and true, plus he’s the youngest. Bunso kasi! That’s why he gets away with being naughty. :)

I actually see myself in him sometimes. I’d like to consider I’m a nicer version of him a long, long time ago. Ken’s also like the older brother I never had – he always asks my mom where I am and if I would be coming home. Sweet, no? Thank God I’m way older than him.

I miss my brothers. I can’t wait to annoy the hell out of them this coming break. I’m sure they miss me too.
